Studio Linen Eco Souk 419
Those who have knitted Erika Knight Studio Linen know that it is not the same as other linens, it is soft, it knitted well, it is light, I would say that I prefer it to knit cotton (I do not like knitting 100% cotton fibers)
The colors are incredible, it is very difficult for me to choose and they are also sustainable fils, no pesticides or herbicides are used in their production, therefore they are eco friendly
I know it has a higher price than other linens, although not so much compared to other linens, but it really deserves it
And now Erika Knight has created the Eco version. It's the same thickness as the previous yarn but improved:
The main difference between the new Studio Linen ECO and the previous Studio Linen by Erika Knight lies in its composition, which has been reformulated to be even more sustainable and softer, while maintaining compatibility between the two.
Here are the key details of the change:
1. Change in Composition
The most important change is the type of fiber that accompanies the linen:
Studio Linen (Previous): It was composed of 85% viscose (recycled linen) and 15% premium linen. The recycled linen was processed to create a viscose-like fiber, which gave it a subtle sheen and a beautiful drape.
Studio Linen ECO (New): It is now composed of 70% Tencel™ (Lyocell) and 30% linen. Tencel is a botanical cellulose fiber that is much more environmentally friendly to produce, and by increasing the percentage of virgin linen to 30%, the yarn gains a bit more body and a natural structure.
2. Compatibility and Use
Despite the change in materials, the brand has designed the ECO version to be 100% compatible with the previous one:
Thickness and Length: Both maintain 120 meters per 50 grams.
Gauge: 3.5 mm to 4 mm needles are still recommended to achieve a tension of approximately 21 stitches per 10 cm.
Mixing: You can combine leftover yarn from the old yarn with the new one in the same project without a noticeable difference in the garment size, although the ECO yarn has a slightly softer feel due to the Tencel.
3. Colors and Care
Color Palette: The color range has been gradually updated. Although many shades are similar, the codes may vary, so it's advisable to check if you need an exact match.
Caution: Both are machine washable (maximum 30°C), but with the ECO version it is especially recommended to dry flat to prevent the weight of the Tencel from stretching the garment downwards (as it has a very fluid drape)
